One Drop Privacy Policy

Welcome to One Drop, and thanks for taking the time to read our Privacy Policy.

Read it thoroughly and know that when agreeing to this policy you agree that:

I consent to the processing of my personal information by Informed Data Systems, Inc. (the provider of One Drop) as described in the One Drop Privacy Policy http://onedrop.today/privacypolicy_eu.  In particular, I understand that some of the personal information collected and processed for the Service may be considered to be location information or sensitive information under applicable law and consent to its processing for the purposes described in the One Drop Privacy Policy.  This information may be shared with other users of One Drop services.  I also understand that my personal information, including sensitive information and location information, will be transferred to the U.S., a country which does not provide the same level of data protection as the European Union, and I consent to such transfers. I have the right to withdraw my consent at any time by discontinuing use of the service and deleting the app from my phone.  For more information, see the One Drop Privacy Policy http://onedrop.today/privacypolicy_eu.

I have the right to opt in or out from receiving email and marketing communications from One Drop at any time by toggling on or off the “stay in touch” toggle in the “App Settings” section within the One Drop app.

Informed Data Systems, Inc., the provider of One Drop, is committed to protecting the information of those individuals who use the One Drop mobile software applications (the “One Drop App) and One Drop-branded websites or other web applications (our “Sites“, together with the One Drop App, the Connected Devices, as defined below, and other services that we may provide in connection with the foregoing, our “Service“).

Our Service helps you track your activities, what you eat, and your insulin and blood glucose levels in order to enhance your ability to make lifestyle choices. This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, and share information that we obtain from your use of our Service. This includes data we collect from devices that you choose to connect to our Service to help you track your activities, such as One Drop-branded or third-party devices that measure physical activity or blood glucose levels (“Connected Devices“).

In particular, this Privacy Policy sets out:

  • What information we may obtain about you in connection with our Service;
  • How we use your information;
  • When and how we share information with others; and
  • How you may access, modify, block or delete your information and control our use and sharing of your information.

Information We Collect

Registration, Profile Information and Information You Post

You must create a One Drop account in order to use our Service. You can create an account by providing your name and email address. You may also create an account by providing credentials to a social media account profile.

You may also voluntarily add to your One Drop profile information such as phone number, gender, height, and weight, and information related to your diabetes management such as your diabetes type, year of diagnosis, glucose range, A1C level, and brand of insulin, insulin pump, and glucose meter.

We collect the moments you post when using our Service, such as photos, insulin levels, blood glucose readings (whether directly entered or transferred via a Connected Device), and notes that you create to accompany your moments.

Some of this information may be considered to be sensitive data under applicable data protection law.  If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or where required by applicable law, we obtain your prior opt-in consent for the processing of the personal information deemed sensitive pursuant to applicable law.

Respecting other people’s privacy is important. Please do not post any content that includes information identifying another person without that person’s explicit consent.  See our user guidelines for specific guidelines for behavior on One Drop at http://onedrop.today/guidelines.

Location Information

We offer features that require specific location data, such as the “Move” and “Food” tools, and insight generation related to correlating location and meals. If you choose to use these features, we will collect data about your physical location from your mobile device if your Operating System settings are enabled to send it to us.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) or Switzerland, and where required by applicable law, we obtain your prior opt-in consent for the processing of location information.

Information Stored on Your Mobile Device

We may collect information stored on your mobile device, such as photos, or access resources on your mobile device such as the camera, if you decide to use your camera for the Service or upload your photos on to the Service.  We will not collect information stored on your mobile device without your permission.

Payment Information

Certain purchases through our Service may require that you provide financial account information, such as your credit card number, to our third-party service providers. Purchases for virtual goods are handled by third party app stores such as Apple’s App Store and Google Play. We are not responsible for their policies and practices.

Communications

We will collect information you provide when you communicate with us, such as any communications you send to customer support. We will also collect information that you may submit as part of participation in a promotional event.

Information Others Share About You

Users may provide information to our Service when uploading photos and tagging moments with notes, and we cannot control whether users post information about you. Users may also provide your email address or phone number to us to invite you to use our Service. This information is collected to check that there is a real person, with a real identity using the service and is not shared with any third parties.  Once this verification is completed we will delete that information.

One Drop Cookies and Usage Data

We collect industry standard data from everyone who visits our Service. We use common technologies to automatically collect information such as your IP address or other device address or device ID, web browser and/or device type, the app sections, or areas. We do collect the dates and times that you visit, access, or use our Service. We do not use cookies, clear gifs, or other web tracking technology because this is a native app. We do use app based analytics from both the app and the device to determine engagement with and continually improve the usefulness of the service.  We do not collect information related to where you’ve come from or where you go after using the One Drop service. We use this information to analyze the effectiveness of our Service, to personalize your experience and improve our Service. We also may use these technologies to collect information regarding your interaction with email messages, such as whether you opened, clicked on, or forwarded a message. This information is gathered from all users, and may be connected with other information we collect from you. We use this information to analyze the effectiveness of our marketing efforts.

You can opt out of the collection and use of certain information, which may require you to discontinue the use of the service and delete the app from your mobile device.

We do not share the information we collect through these technologies with third parties for their promotional use.

Third Party Applications

You may have the option of integrating your One Drop account with Apple HealthKit and third party applications that integrate with Healthkit.  If you choose to do so, we may request your permission to access information about you from Apple and from third party applications, as necessary to provide you with the Service.

How We Use Your Information

To Provide the Service.  We use your information to provide, personalize, analyze, improve, and promote the Service.

Communications.  Contact information is used to communicate with you, including by sending email messages, push notifications, or text messages.  We may send administrative messages such as messages related to account management, customer service, or system maintenance, or promotional messages to inform you about new features or products that we think you would be interested in. Your email address will NOT be shared with any other parties, but specifically will NOT be shared to enable any third parties for promotional purposes.  If you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”) and where required by applicable law, we obtain your prior opt-in consent for sending you promotional messages.

Aggregate Data.  We may aggregate data collected through our Service and use it for specific purposes such as providing you with insights on your data or the community’s data directly related to helping you better manage your journey with diabetes.

How We Share Your Information

Displaying to Other Users.  Our Service offers many ways to find and share useful content. The moments that you post will be publicly displayed on our Service, such as your photos, meals, activities, exercise, and insulin and glucose levels, and information about your notes that you tag moments with, your likes, or stickers you share with others.  You understand that some of the information you share or that others may share about you may be considered to be sensitive information under applicable law and consent to such sharing.  We encourage you to carefully consider the information you share.  We cannot control how other users treat the posted information.

We will not display your private profile or registration information to other users, but your initials will publicly displayed along with your moments and other public content.

Please read “Preferences” below to learn about what controls we offer over the sharing of your data.

Vendors and Service Providers.  We may share information we receive with vendors and service providers we use in connection with providing our Service and who perform services on our behalf. We authorize these service providers to use or disclose the information only as necessary to perform certain services on our behalf or comply with legal requirements. We require these service providers by contract to appropriately safeguard the privacy and security of personal information they process on our behalf.

Third Party Applications. We offer the ability to integrate your One Drop account with Apple’s HealthKit. If you do, we will share your information with Apple if you give us permission to do so. If you connect your One Drop account to a third party application through HealthKit, you may be asked to share your information with that application. We will not share your information without your permission.

We also enable you to publicly post particular One Drop moments, on an individual basis, to third party applications such as social networking services. A third party application’s use of your information is governed by its privacy policy and your settings on that application.

One Drop will not use or disclose to third parties user data gathered from HealthKit for advertising or other use-based data mining purposes other than improving health.

Aggregate Data. We may share aggregate data that does not identify you with third party partners.

As Required By Law and Similar Disclosures.  We may access, preserve, and disclose information if we believe doing so is required or appropriate to: comply with law enforcement requests and legal process, such as a court order or subpoena; respond to your requests; or protect your, our, or others’ rights, property, or safety.

Merger, Sale, or Other Corporate Transactions.If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of our assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be sold or transferred as part of such a transaction as permitted by law and/or contract.

With Your Informed Consent. We may also disclose your information with your informed consent.

Information Security

We use certain physical, managerial, and technical safeguards that are designed to help us protect the integrity and security of personal information that we collect and store. Please be aware that no security measures are perfect, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or store on our Service.

Our Policy Towards Children

Our Services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information of a child under 13, we will delete such information.

International users

The Services are controlled and operated from the United States, and you  personal information will be stored and processed in the United States. The United States may not have the same data protection laws as the country in which you initially provided that information. When we transfer your personal information to other countries, we will protect it as described in this Privacy Policy. By using the Services or otherwise providing personal information to us, you consent to the transfer of personal information to countries outside of your country of residence, in particular the United States.

If you are located in the EEA or Switzerland, we comply with applicable legal requirements providing adequate protection for the transfer of personal information to countries outside of the EEA or Switzerland, and will obtain your consent for the transfer where and when required by applicable law.

Accessing or Modifying Your Information

You may update, correct, or delete your registration and profile information at any time by accessing your account settings. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information.  If you wish to request access to or correct, block or delete other personal information we hold about you, you may contact us at privacy@onedrop.today.  These rights may be limited in some circumstances by local law.

Preferences

We provide you with settings that allow you to adjust your preferences. Please carefully use our Service and review your account settings.

Our settings may also allow you to adjust your communications preferences. If you receive promotional email from us, you may unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions contained within the email. You may also opt out from receiving promotional email from us by sending your request to us by email at privacy@onedrop.today or by writing to us at the address given at the end of this policy. Please be aware that, even after you opt out from receiving promotional messages from us, you will continue to receive administrative emails from us regarding the Service. You may turn off push notifications through your device settings.

Changes to Our Privacy Policy

We may revise this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised policy on this web page, and the revised version will be effective when it is posted. If we make any material changes to this policy, we will notify you of such changes by posting them on this page or by sending you an email or other notification, and we will indicate when such changes will become effective. By continuing to access or use our Services after those changes become effective, you are agreeing to be bound by the revised policy.
