Did you know that strength training can help you reduce your medication needs and keep blood glucose in range?

Strength training is any exercise in which a person uses weight to increase strength and muscle mass. But there are a lot of other benefits as well -- including helping you lower your blood glucose! Strength training doesn't need to be complicated -- doing exercises at home using your own body weight counts! And as you get build muscle, you'll feel stronger and you'll notice your blood glucose levels start to come down. How? When you work your muscles, they contract and take up glucose for energy, removing glucose from the bloodstream and into your cells. The result? Lower blood glucose levels! And this happens even if insulin is not available, making strength training a great activity for people with diabetes. Check out our One Drop Guide to Strength Training to learn more about:
  • how strength training can help you hit your blood glucose targets, and
